Witchcraft isn't just love and light, as many of you know. It is also mystical, it is shadow and death. Being a witch is recognizing that life, death, and rebirth are all essential aspects of the Universal. You cannot have one without the other. I acknowledge that the Dark Mothers are calling me to walk into the shadows, to give in, and to be reborn.
One of the first things many witches learn, or seek to learn, is how to protect themselves. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually. From other people, from natural disaster, from bad luck, or from external energetic forces. When it comes to protection, prevention is key, and the best way to prevent harm is to create boundaries.
There are many methods people use to try to get to a higher level of consciousness. A level in which our stresses, our fears, and the mundane problems of life no longer effect how we view ourselves and the world. Living "mindfully" has become somewhat trendy these days, but for good reason. You absolutely have the power to change your habits and thought patterns. While mindfulness will not solve all your problems, it can help you take control or regain control of your life.
Much of spellwork has always been tied to astrology, especially the moon phases and the signs in which the moon phases fall. The fact that it is most visible at night adds to the mystery and the beauty.
Crystals can help enhance your meditation by providing focus on the areas in your life on which you're working on. You can hold them in your hands, or place them on your body. If you place them on your body, you're most likely to place them on your chakra or vibrational energy points. In this post, we'll discuss suggested crystals to incorporate into your chakra meditations. First, what are chakras? Chakras are vibrational energy points that line your body. The concept of chakras are usually found in Hindu, Buddhist, and other Asian spiritual traditions, specifically those found in India.

It is fitting then, that we begin again with our moon in Cancer.
Winter Solstice or midwinter, is the "shortest day" and "longest night" of the year. In other words, the sun sets sooner than any other day of the year. This day is observed by many different cultures and traditions as a joyous holiday. It is celebrated in the norther hemisphere in December, while the souther hemisphere will celebrate in June.
