Spring/Summer ’16 NYFW Recap !!

Fashion Week in New York has come to a close, and once again I was not in NY during it. -insert sad face here- I need constant reminders for why I moved out of New York. I am almost 90% sure I’ll be moving back at some point. In any case, there were a few looks that completely wow’d me, so lets take a look!

Holy crap. That was my reaction to Chromat’s S/S 16 collection which featured my favorite piece from NYFW. Combining Intel technology and structural design, Becca McCharen has created a new level of fashion technology. The dress below has what I’d assume are wings that expand by using sensors that read your stress and adrenaline levels. They expand when your stress level is high into an imposing shape. Think of this as a new level of power dressing.

Also in the collection is a sports bra that ventilates itself after reading your body heat level also through the use of sensors (as seen in the featured image for this post).

Alice + Olivia

I love Alice + Olivia, and their throwback to 70’s silhouettes and cuts for this season couldn’t have made me happier. My favorite outfit is this gorgeous white suit that I would totally buy immediately if I could and wear it to work tomorrow.

There’s just something about a woman in a suit that’s just… -heart eyes-. I love this outfit especially because it’s cut to be very flattering to the female figure, and very feminine yet still gives off that powerful look and feel that comes with a suit. Also, shoulder pads! I love me some shoulder pads.

Now lets talk gowns. If there is any collection that won gowns for me this season, it’s Marchesa. I don’t even think I could pick a favorite, so here’s three:

I love the frilly girly-ness of the first and last dress. There’s something about a flouncy gown that makes me very happy. I think it’s probably my childhood obsession with princess dresses. The second dress is my favorite of the three. It’s evil and my favorite characters in fairytales were almost always the villains.

What were some of your favorite looks from NYFW?
