Cloudy Weekends

Hello! Welcome to FEMMEVIOLET! I’ve been following quite a few fashion blogs for several years, as well as other blogs, and I found that while there are quite a few fashion blogs for queer people, most of them focus on masculine expression through clothing. There are very little places for femmes to go. I hope that FEMMEVIOLET will foster an online community of fashion-loving fabulous femmes through fashion profiles of femmes I meet and reviews of local queer events. I hope you enjoy the content I have to offer.

This weekend is brought to you by two amazing music playlists I discovered on Spotify, Chilled Hits and, especially on Sunday, Sunday Lounge. Definitely check them out if you love laid back yet still dancey vibes.

On Saturday, I finally got to take a trip to visit the American Museum of Natural History. If there’s anything you should know about me, you should know that I love museums. I decided to have a little fun with my outfit and mix several different patterns: lace, floral, and fringe.

The museum did not disappoint. However, unfortunately my best friend and I hadn’t checked what time the museum closed on Saturdays, and it was closing early so we didn’t have time to check out the other floors or exhibits. We did explore the entirety of the cultural history exhibits, and they were amazing! Check out these incredible photos of dyed fish from a small exhibit. Doesn’t it look like a beautiful piece of artwork you’d want on your wall? Well, it does to me!

I wish I could have seen the rest of the exhibits. Definitely going back as soon as I can to check out the dinosaur exhibit! I got to end the day with a beautiful sunset and a Brazilian jazz concert at Riverside Park in the Upper West Side. It was a pretty fantastic weekend. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of my outfit on Sunday, but more will come soon!

OOTD 1.4 8/16/14I really want to make FV a community, so if you or someone you know is a femme-identified queer fashionista, please drop me an email! I would love to profile you! Also if you are hosting or know of an upcoming queer event in either New York City or Boston, drop me a line! Thanks so much for all the support I got for FEMMEVIOLET pre-launch! I hope you enjoy what is to come!

Love & Light,
Becca
